free at last!

Before Mom left for work this morning, some strangers showed up outside with their noisy trucks. Mom put me in my crate after I went outside to look at them. I know it's my job to look after the house when my parents are gone and I couldn't do a very good job of that from inside my crate. So, what's a dog to do?

Bust Loose!

Escape Artist - just another title to add to my resume.

love hurts

On Friday night, I got to hang out with my friends Abby and Molly the Collie. Molly is new in the neighborhood. Her and Abby are actually neighbors, which makes it kind of awkward that they are both in love with me. I just have to tell the ladies to be patient - there's plenty of Wegman to go around.

Abby's mom, Frida, brought out some bones for all us pups. Molly had her bone and I went sniffing at it and she went all Kujo on me.

Needless to say, I was avoiding Molly after that and Abby was right by my side in the aftermath. That Abby is not only devoted, but persistent.

on the paper trail

For the past few days Dad has been having strangers come to the house to fix things. He doesn't let me investigate them like I like to do. When they leave, there is always a yellow peice of paper on the kitchen counter. While Mom and Dad are gone, I take that paper off the counter and sniff it and then rip it up just a little bit - just so Mom and Dad know I don't like it.

My Agility Ability

I finished my agility class last night. You can watch the video here.

There was a lot for me to sniff on that obstacle course, I tell you.

Agility Schmagility

I started taking Agility classes a few weeks ago, though I'd personally like to think that I've been training for this all my life. I've learned to get on a table and to do jumps. I also did some tunnel practice. There are other young pups like me in the class so it's very easy to get distracted. We just want to wrestle.

Mom made me some tuna brownies and they are my favorite most stinky treat! They help keep me focused.

New Heights

Mom and Dad babysat for Kyle and Emma on Saturday. I was a very good boy and I followed them around to make sure they were behaving too. I was very upset when they left me - so upset that I jumped the gate into the living room so that I could express my displeasure. Mom came in and I got to go with them. Thank goodness!

The next day while Mom and Dad were gone, I jumped over the gate again and ate some of Mom's library books. They weren't very tasty. I was in big trouble when my parents came home! Now I do not have living room privileges any more. :( No more jumping on the couch when Mom and Dad aren't looking... no more plush carpet to lay on...

Big Boy Haircut

Here are some pics before and after my first big boy haircut. Everyone is telling me how handsome I am, but I already knew that.

February = chocolate and lots of love

The other day I decided to treat myself with about a pound of chocolate. Mom and Dad were not happy about that because I had gotten it out of the trash. They tried to give me the nasty liquid with peanut butter, but I remember what happened the last time I ate that stuff.

I got to go to daycare that day and it was awesome. They told mom that I was the life of the party!

I've been feeling kind of yucky these past few days. I am not sure if the chocolate was worth it :(

Merry Christmas or whatever

Mom and Dad took me to have my photo taken with a man that had a white beard wearing a red outfit last night. I was not interested in meeting him and he didn't give me any treats or anything! Also, there was this giant black moving thing that Mom and Dad wanted me to walk on! I was thinking, "No way!" and I tried my best to run away from it. Dad had to carry me down it. There were some other dogs there, but something told me we weren't there to play. I behaved like the good boy I am and lots of people said I am very handsome.

Mom and Dad put up a tree in the house. There are things hanging off of it and it lights up. There is a red-shirted chipmunk in the tree and it sings. I find it very interesting.

I guess we are going to visit my Grandma and Grandpa for Christmas. Aunt Molly will ignore me as usual. Maybe I will be able to play in some fields. Happy Holidays!

Happy Thanksgiving

Mom and Dad's friends came over as well as Grandma and Uncle Giun. We had two turkies. Grandma gave me some pieces and Dad gave me some steak. I don't mind handouts, but I prefer to get my own snacks. When Dad was in the shower and Mom was sleeping, I ate a fourth of a pumpkin pie AND some pumpkin bread. I loved baked goods.

My friend Abby is back in the nieghborhood. Her parents went out of town and left her with some other people. When I saw her we played a little bit and then I went to her house that night. I had a lot of fun. I let Abby push me around a little bit since she's a girl and she weighs 15 lbs more than me!

Hallo-weenie

This is the first and most likely last time I will ever wear a costume. Nobody gave me any treats. They just wanted to take my picture.

Mom gave candy to the kids that came to the door and I tried my best to bark at everyone of them. Why didn't they share?

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

I am one today! I am so mature now and I must be loved and cuddled constantly. Dad was out of town for the past two days so it's just been me and Mom. Yesterday she took me to a dog park where I got to eat yummy ice cream. I met up with Abbey there too. It was hot outside that day and I was very tired when I came home, so I had a nice long nap.

Today, Mom gave me some pigs in a blanket. They were delicious! Mom and Dad also got me a soccer ball and some tennis balls. I am such a big boy now and I try to eat my soccer ball. I shouldn't do that though because now the soccer ball is in the closet and I can't play with it anymore.

I can't believe I am one now. Mom told me that just a year ago, I was just a tiny little puppy baby. Now I can do so many more fun and cool things!

WORST. HAIRCUT. EVER.

Mom took me to APC today and I was so excited because it has been so long since I'd been there. They gave me a bath and then they shaved off all my leg hairs. I tried to tell them that it wasn't right, but they didn't stop.

Mom and Dad tell me that I am still a handsome boy, but I know how they feel. My heart hurts. Dad thought that the beard made the dog, but apparently my leg trimmings make a big difference as well. I might have to hide from my friends. And I certainly won't be staring at myself in the mirror anymore. It's just too depressing.

The week started out so good. I went to the pool on Tuesday with Abbey and I played with a bunch of other dogs and I got to play catch in the pool. They even had a treat table! I went there every chance I got. I also got lots of long walks and play time with all my friends like My Okie, Wilson, Robbie, Nina and Martin. Ok, some of those friends don't play, but they let me sniff their butts.

I really hate that the week had to end like this.

something is different...

Mom took me to the vet the other day and I had to stay there overnight. Apparently, I had some sort of surgery. Mom came to pick me up and now I'm home. I was happy to see Mom and happy to come home to all my toys and treats. I don't think anything has changed, but I do feel a little different, like something is missing... Oh well! Woof!

Where did July go?

Last month was a busy and fun-filled one. I got to romp in the creek at Shirlington Dog Park and I played at Daycare when Mom and Dad got married. I also followed some frogs. They are neat!

One day Mom took me to the beach with my friends, Lucy and Milo and their mom. It wasn't fun. It was really hot. I don't want to go back ever again. It was very far away.

I have been to the vet a few times lately. One time I went because I have some sort of gunk in my eyes. They gave me some eye drops and I am much better. A few days after that, I had to go back to the vet because my back right leg is hurting me. They think that I have a sprained ankle. They gave me some pills, so I hope that I will be better soon.

Mom and Dad are trying to switch me to big boy food, but it isn't working out too well. It makes my tummy feel bad and I have pooped on the carpet twice.

It's hard being a puppy sometimes.

Playdates and Pottying

I had my first neighborhood play date last Tuesday. Mom and I were outside when Abby and her mom came by and then Abby's mom, Frida, invited us over to play in their backyard. It was a lot of fun playing with Abby. She's a good wrestler even though she is about 4 months younger than me. She is a chocolate lab. We shared some sticks and even some rainwater. I peed on her dad's grill. I lift my leg to pee now, so it's pretty cool.

On Saturday, Dad took me to Lucy and Milo's house and I stayed over there while he went to play with his friends. I was hoping that I would get to do the same thing, but Milo wasn't being my friend. He kept growling at me, even after I busted him loose from timeout. I peed in their house four times. Lucy and Milo's mom wasn't happy about that.

On Sunday, Mom was resting because she didn't feel well. I saw Abby outside in front of our house though, so I had to let her know. I kept running up and down the stairs and peeking out the window to see where Abby had gone. Finally, mom got up and took me outside and I was so happy to find Abby. She is my bff. We have a lot of fun wrestling together. Another one of our neighborhood friends, Robby, was there too, but he is old so he doesn't play with us very much. Robby's mom gave us treats and we got to run around a lot. I was tired once I came home. It was a pretty fun weekend.

Oh yeah, I also finished obedience training earlier this month. They gave me a certificate and a toy!

Gingerbread and Chocolate Croissants

Before Dad left for Colorado, I made sure to give him an image to remember me by. That was of me gobbling up his gingerbread. It was the most delicious treat that I've ever had... until today.

Today, Mom bought some chocolate croissants. She left them on the counter for me, so while she was in the shower, I ate them all! By the time Mom came down the stairs, I was licking crumbs from the plastic bag that the croissants came in. They were delicious. I think I swallowed one down whole!

Mom was really upset with me. I guess she didn't want me to eat all three at once. After eating those croissants I got really tired and all I wanted to do was just lie on the floor.

Mom gave me some peanut butter and liquid (hydrogen peroxide) in a dish. What a lovely way to wash down the croissants!

I was wrong about that. My tummy started feeling really bad. Mom took me outside and I had a poop and then 10 minutes later, I threw up my croissants. All I wanted to do was just lie in the grass. I was sad about my croissants and sad about how my tummy was feeling.

I should stop stealing food and just eat what Mom and Dad give me, but I just can't resist.

April

I am such a busy big boy now that I don't have time to keep up with this blog.

Here is a rundown of my most recent activities.

Sleeping over at Affectionate Pet Care - Mom was in CA and Dad was in Suffolk, VA. I love APC. All of them know my name and play with me and the other dogs. I have my buddies there. It's been awhile since I've been to daycare and I keep trying to sit in front of Mom's car so she will take me, but it doesn't work. I need to see my buddies.

First Road Trip - threw up 3 times on the way there, had runny poop after the ride back, but I didn't throw up.

Easter with Grandma and Grandpa in Ararat, VA - I met my Aunt Molly. She is a chihuahua. She is old. She slept most of the time I was there but I don't think that means she didn't like me. Grandma and Grandpa loved me even though I barked at them at first. I did my tricks for them and they wanted to spoil me. Everybody loves me.

Photo Shoot at George Mason University

Dog Obedience Class - I slept through most of it. *yawn*

Sleeping over at Shawne's (the place where I was born) - She wasn't there, but there were a lot of other schnauzers. Mostly minis though.

I'm 5 months old!

I'm getting to be a very big boy now. Dad thinks that I have matured in the past few weeks. I'd like to think so too.

This past weekend was really fun. We had Franny and Spencer spend the night on Friday and the next day, I got groomed by Rose. She has other schnauzers, but I only met Lucy and she barked a lot until Rose put her in her crate. It's not every day that I get to see another schnauzer.

There is a mini schnauzer in my neighborhood. Her name is Sadie. She had puppies with Riley, who is a yorkie. Riley growls at me when I get too close to Sadie, but I like to sniff every dog! He is just jealous because I am so handsome. I know because everyone tells me so.

Getting groomed was not very fun, but mom fed me treats the whole time so it wasn't that bad. When I got home from grooming, there was a bag of toys waiting for me! They were from my neigbors Duke, a yorkie, and Bella, a dachshund, and their mom Cathy. There was even a really delicious chicken treat. Mmm!

The next day, I met my dogwalker. Her name is Darby. She is nice and I like her because she comes to walk me when Mom and Dad are at work.

Later, Tucker came over to my house. He is Tony and Erica's golden retriever. He barked at me when I came too close to his treat. I wasn't scared though, just surprised because a few minutes before, we were eating treat crumbs together off my bed. I just wanted to play, but all Tucker wanted to do was EAT!

Luckily, I got to go to doggie daycare on Tuesday. It was a lot of fun and I was tired until the next day! They have naptime at daycare and I get to snuggle with my other doggie friends, but mostly I just play with everyone. I lost four teeth while I was there. All my puppy teeth are falling out now because I am a big puppy. I love daycare and I can't wait to go back.

Yesterday I pooped in the upstairs hallway. I'm trying to get better with my accidents, but when you gotta poop... you gotta poop!

Oh yeah, I also learned a new trick! I can "bow" now. I think it might be my best trick!
